Cor Takes on Wisconsin: Week One

Hey y’all! Just me this week. 🙂

Cor’s had a long week this week. Monday–group training and ears plucked.

Tuesday–full groom (thanks for the help, Marleigh!)

Wednesday–vet and shots

Thursday–20+ hours in a car.

We ran him a little every time we had a rest stop.

He had about an hour and a half when he wasn’t in the car or the vest when we stopped for dinner with family. He was around a lot of new people for that hour and a half AND their dog–lots of mental exercise.

Friday, Saturday–three houses in two days as we get settled in for where I’ll be hopping back and forth. Also, new people and some he hasn’t seen in a while. Guinea pigs and a dock, too–we’re still working on being okay with the guineas and learning to calm down of his own volition outside his kennel. 🤷‍♀️ (So grateful for kennels for this reason, btw! A safe, cave-like space that makes him feel protected and like he can watch the world without interacting with it.)

Sunday–long walk in the morning (I may have maybe gotten a bit lost) and a good day of rest. Still in a new place, but starting to get back to a normal schedule.

All that to be said, he’s had a few accidents in the houses (one #2 and two to four #1). That’s understandable, yes? His world’s been turned upside down and “out” isn’t where it normally is. Plus, as my trainer said, just because a young puppy is house trained for one place, doesn’t mean they know it transcends all homes.

So if this is something you’re going through–it’s fine. You’ll make it through. And, in my next post, I’ll have a little trick for you. 😉💜

Remember,

💜 You were not born to fail. 💜

Lauryn

All told, though, we’re doing well, here. First day of homeschooling completed–and very well, at that!

Edit: the day after this he went to a house with multiple animals, so… yeah. More socialization FTW! (Follow Service Dog Story on instagram to see those pictures.)
