Six Feet to Independence Part 2

Y’all! You blow me away.

I hit publish on Six Feet to Independence on May 28 and got the thumbs up from quality assurance on the 29th. I ordered a copy to go through and do a final proof check on, and re-uploaded the file with all the edits on the 1st, and got the thumbs up from quality assurance on the 2nd. Immediately, I ordered author copies, and received them on the 4th.

For the past week I’ve had a bit of a hectic schedule of dogsitting at multiple houses going on each day. I was finally able to record a live to Facebook on Saturday evening (the 5th) announcing that my book was out. (You can buy it here, or here, and get a signed copy here).

Y’all took that and RAN with it. I didn’t in any way expect this level of response. As of writing this, the video has 465 views, 16 shares, and 63 comments just on my video–not to mention all the other shared ones.

On top of that, I’ve had an amazing response from people who spread the news through word of mouth. I’ve had people ask to sell hard copies Six Feet to Independence  in their own stores. I’ve had people offer to help me in the selling and marketing worlds.

I can’t even express to you how much that amazed me. I am so excited for what this could mean for so many people who are looking to start the service dog journey, but have no idea what that entails, or how to start. The response I got from y’all is so big for that hope and dream that I can’t even begin to express how grateful I am to all of you.

The dream is for this book to get into all the hands it needs to be in. To do that,  I would request that those of you who have read it leave a comment on Amazon, as that helps immensely with the algorithms and boosting the chances people will see it while they are scrolling. I haven’t seen many books like this out there. (None actually!) I can’t tell you what I would’ve given to have access to something like this when I was starting on my journey. To have somewhere I could find the successes and fails that are a normal part of this life. Something to direct friends and family to who had questions and confusions and misconceptions about the service dog world. Somewhere with answers about the differentiations between the service dog world and the adjacent worlds of emotional support and therapy dogs.

I want to thank all of you again. SO much. I am amazed at the support I’ve gotten from all of you. I am so thankful that God has given me this group of amazing people and the ability to make a difference in this small way. Y’all are so great, and this response has lit a fire under my butt to continue chipping away at the various other (fiction) books I have in the works.

Kisses from me and Cor to all y’all!

You were not born to fail.

P.S. We’ve also made it to a #1 new release on both the paper book and the ebook! I didn’t know where to throw that in, but it’s exciting news. 🙂

It is obvious that you and your book came at the right time to help many people dealing with service dogs or just to understand what they really are and the hard work it requests to transform a normal dog into a service dog.

Lauryn you are frankly amazing. I can’t wait to read your fiction books.
